The Memory at On On Hotel

Memory at On On - Fried Green Kimchi

Last year Ben & I took a quick trip to Thailand on a 4 day weekend. I still think about it & would go there again in a heartbeat given the chance. I think for most people travelling in Southeast Asia, Thailand is the first stop or at least the second. For us, Thailand was at the top of our list but wound up being one of the last places we visited before moving out of Asia. We spent the first night & the last night in Phuket. The rest of the trip was in beautiful Koh Phi Phi.

So for our last night in Thailand, we travelled back to the mainland from Koh Phi Phi & checked into The Memory at On On Hotel in Old Town Phuket. I will be writing more on Old Town to follow up but first, I’ve got to share this hotel!

We were lucky enough to catch this staging at the hotel for a photo shoot. The photographers & crew were busy preparing so they let me squeeze in for a few shots of their set. Just look at this table! Now I’m dying for a friend to have a Peranakan meets Thai themed event (that’s very specific) so I can recreate this. Also, just so I can have an excuse to cook loads of Thai food.

The hotel with or without the staging is stunning. If you’ve seen The Beach, starring Leo, the hostel he stays at in Bangkok was actually this hotel in Phuket. At the time of filming, The On On Hotel was very run down. Since then, it’s been renovated while maintaining a lot of the original charm & renamed The Memory at On On. The hotel has suites & private rooms as well as a hostel & a restaurant. So there is something for every price range.

I’m not sure if my pictures truly do it justice. Every nook & cranny of this place was beautiful! If you’re visiting Phuket & want to stay in land away from the beach for a night, check this place out.
