Following the man-made disaster that is the Salton Sea, we headed to see the natural beauty of Joshua Tree. To see our exact route for this day check out the map image I included on the Anzo-Borrega post.
Joshua Tree is a place where I could easily spend every weekend of my life. Mr. FGK says it’s currently his favorite place ever. However, there is still a lot left to see in this world. Obviously we are giving it rave reviews. Now, I’ll just let the pictures speak for themselves.
Once we left Joshua Tree, we headed for the Mojave. However, we were so enamored with Joshua Tree that we left just before sunset, hours later than we had intended.
Here we caught the sun setting over these salt flats, just outside the Mojave & our first stretch of Route 66. Since we left so lat, we drove through the Mojave at night. It was a bit creepy & we lost a hubcap on our rental car in a pothole. Here’s hoping we get another chance to drive it in the future.
Next stop: Las Vegas!
