The next day, we woke up early, abandoned our winter coats in San Francisco, & headed for Southern California. If So Cal is a dream, then driving Highway 1 South into So Cal is heaven. These coastal views were more than can be captured on camera. There isn’t much I can say to describe it. Just do it! Make it a bucket list agenda & go. And when you do, drive until it’s dark. Then get up, & do it again. Drive until Mexico.

We pulled over every chance we got until dark. And along the way, we saw whales. WHALES!!!! Real life, Free Willy, wild whales in the ocean! It was beautiful & I actually cried a little.

At the end of the day’s drive, just as the sun was setting, we came upon Elephant Seals. Remember how little research we did? This was just as much of a shock to us as the sea lions in Oregon. We were just driving along & there they were, lazing about along the side of the road. They are so funny. They made the grossest noises.

Happy cows really do come from California!

Next stop: Los Angeles!
